Social Technology Update
Last week when we were still in Oregon, husband Kevin ordered a Google Nexus. He had seen one in the office when he went in to meet with his colleagues. He thought our home business could use one as a developer tool, especially since they are considerably less expensive than the IPad.
Yesterday it arrived via UPS and I have been spending quite a bit of ttime playing with it. I’m trying right now to see if I can type effectively on it. (Not really, though it’s faster than the IPhone)
Paddy downloaded a chess game and we played a game together, which I will count as informal academics.
Not much formal academics besides math from a workbook.
As usual, the boys read a lot. I have not been keeping track of what.
My teenager S surprised me when he said he had deregistered his account at Facebook. He spends more time on there than anyone else in our family and he has a lot of friends. He said he was getting tired of people sending dumb pictures and that he goes on there when he’s bored because it’s easy, but he wants to focus on his goals (including rehabbing from a football injury last season). I thought he was joking at first. I am not sure if he can stay deregged with all his cousins etc who will miss him but I thought it showed promise that he could make a decision with the big picture n mind like that.
I have been reading about Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
